to show thyself approved unto God...
2 Timothy 2:15

May 2006
Dear Friends
and Family,
How better to
begin our letter to you than by expressing to you our heartfelt
thanks for the blessing and encouragement that you are to us.
We greatly appreciate your eternal investment in the Lords work
through our ministry with New Tribes Mission. Thank you for
praying for us. Please be assured of our prayers for you as
well.

It is now over 32 years since we first entered the NTM
training. For several years now, the Mission has been gradually
updating and expanding the missionary training courses. We are
thrilled to be able to share with you some of the latest news.
As you know,
New Tribes Mission, in partnership with local churches and
individual supporters, sends missionaries to the foreign mission
field, with the sole purpose of sharing the Gospel with tribal
people. In order to better equip Christians in this
all-important task, a new Missionary
Training Center is being developed on 350 acres on the Lake of
the Ozarks outside Camdenton, Missouri, the site of the
mission's language institute. The Missionary Training Center
will better equip and train missionaries to accelerate church
planting efforts among the many yet unreached tribal peoples.
Currently NTM operates several mission institutes in various
locations across the USA. Missionary candidates train at one of
these centers for one year, followed by a year at the language
institute in Missouri. This fall, all four training will be
integrated into a one, two-year course, at the new center in
Camdenton, Missouri.
Key benefits of
the Missionary Training Center
More effective:
One course will integrate spiritual preparation and practical
cross-cultural skills.
More efficient:
One location will require only one staff and one faculty.
More flexible:
One training team can more quickly respond to the rapidly
changing world and to the strategies NTM is developing to deal
with challenges.
More capacity:
Phase 1 will accommodate 200 students when classes begin in the
fall of 2006. Phase 2 will make room for 400 students.
Thank you for
praying for the entire staff at the Missionary Training Center
in Missouri. They still have a lot of work to be completed
before the new semester begins this fall.

NTM owns 350 acres on the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks
in Central Missouri. This provides plenty of room to
expand the Missionary Training Center. |
Please keep
praying for our ministry in the NTM Medical Plan/Life Insurance
office, as well as for us personally:
-
Our primary
ministry is involved in administrating the NTM self-funded
Medical Plan and we thank the Lord that things are going
well. There is never a “dull day” in our busy office, as we
serve our fellow missionaries in helping to meet their
medical needs, encouraging them, helping them with their
medical claims, finding medical providers for them, etc.
-
In our last
letter to you we asked for you to pray for the launching of
the new NTM Life Insurance age-based policy and premiums.
Our programmer just couldnt make the deadline “happen” on
May 1st, so, Lord willing, it will begin June 1st.
We have been bombarded with literally hundreds of e-mails
and phone calls to answer in the past 3-4 weeks from our
fellow NTM missionaries from all over the world.
-
Thank you
for praying for our sons here in Sanford. Jeffrey is
finishing up his Electrical Journeymans License. David has
just completed his third year of college. This fall he will
be enrolling at UCF, University of Central Florida which is
about 11 miles from Sanford.
-
Pray for
John as he greatly needs the Lords wisdom at work in the
busy Medical Plan office. We still dont know about travel
plan for this summer.
-
Please keep
praying for Linda these days as she has been having severe
hip and leg pain for many weeks. We are continuing to see
doctors and get treatment for her.
Once again,
thank you for your prayers for our ministry. We trust that you
will have a wonderful summer.

Joyfully in Christ,
John
